Saw the new Picasso show at the Art Institute today, and was pretty taken with the sketches, mostly. The notes about this portrait of Léonide Massine included an apocryphal detail that at the time, Diaghilev was so obsessed with Massine that he offered Picasso 10,000 francs to paint a full portrait of Léonide. Picasso just…didn’t? That’s love! That’s badass!
